Know How

Gekon Platinum resistance elements are temperature sensors for resistance thermometers. They cannot generally be used in their basic element form but must be built into some type of assembly which will enable them to withstand the various environmental conditions to which they will be exposed when used.

Introduction Platinum Resistance Elements

Thin film elements have a sensitive platinum film deposited onto the ceramic former. Thin films are available in smaller dimensions and offer the possibility for higher nominal resistance values...

General assembly instructions for
Platinum Resistance Elements

Platinum Resistance Elements are temperature sensitive sensors mounted in RTDs. These sensors require an adequate housing as protection during direct exposure to surrounding media...

A comparison of Platinum Temperature
Sensors versus Thermistors

Which Sensor is best for your application? Temperature detection today offers a wide variety of sensors: thermocouples, thermistors, radiationpyrometers, and RTDs (resistance thermometer devices)...

Temperature Measurement in Low Temperatures
with Platinum Resistance Elements

Todays market presents an ever increasing number of RTD applications in low temperatures such as the deep-freezing storage of food-supplies, medical applications (e.g. storage of blood-preserves, and organs, etc.), laboratory-applications, and industrial uses such as liquification of high pure technical gases...

Platinum thin film temperature resistance elements
Laser Trimming versus Sputter Etching

For many years the majority of platinum resistance thermometers were manufactured via wire wound technology (the temperature sensitive parts of the resistance elements were thin platinum wires). This process was of course very labor intensive...
